About Jennifer Cooks
Hi there! I'm Jennifer Locklin, the heart and soul behind Jennifer Cooks. Cooking isn't just my passion; it's a bridge connecting generations. Trained as a chef and endlessly in love with food, I've spent years cooking up cherished moments with family and friends and crafting recipes that turn meals into memories.
My culinary journey began at The Art Institute of Houston, led me through various restaurant kitchens, and even into catering, specializing in wedding and birthday cakes. But as life got busier with my kids' activities and my husband's growing business, I traded professional kitchens for my home kitchen and started this blog.
Growing up, I was always by my mom’s and Czech grandmother’s sides in the kitchen. They weren't just teaching me to cook—they were handing down a legacy of love and creativity. To me, cooking is more than following recipes; it's an art form and a way to express love through every dish served.
This blog, started in 2009, is my culinary playground where I share everything from my personal kitchen adventures to time-honored family recipes. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or someone who's just starting out, I believe cooking is an adventure anyone can embark on. Yes, there will be mess-ups and mishaps—I have them all the time! But each mistake is a stepping stone to mastering this art. Remember, Julia Child didn’t start cooking until she was nearly 40, and look where her journey took her!
If cooking feels more like a chore than a joy, let me help you rediscover the creativity and pleasure in each chop, stir, and simmer.
So, dive into the recipes, get inspired, and remember to enjoy the aroma, savor every flavor, and listen for that satisfying sizzle. Let’s cook something extraordinary together!
